Whitebred Shorthorn Autumn Sale 2017

Auctioneers Report

The Annual Autumn show and sale of Whitebred Shorthorn cattle saw a top price of 5,000gns achieved by Gordon Jackson for the maiden heifer Blackburn Milkybar. Having won her class and gone on to take the Female and Overall Championship at the pre-sale show this daughter of Row Jim was well bid for in the ring and eventually knocked down to MG & J Taylor from Low Arvie, Corsock, Castle Douglas.

Gordon Jackson was also responsible for the next best priced heifer, this was another Row Jim daughter, Blackburn Kitkat. She had taken 2nd prize in the maiden heifer class at the pre-sale show then went on to sell for 3,600gns to J Robertson & Son of The Becks, Langholm.

Messrs Pattinson’s Hottbank Lucinda 12th was the next best female at 3,200gns. She has won the served heifer class earlier in the day and went on to be Reserve Female Champion. Sired by Blackburn Marshall this heifer had been scanned in calf to Blackburn Jethro. She was purchased on the day by the same buyers as the Champion, MG & J Taylor from Corsock.

Topping the bull trade at 3,200gns was T Telford’s Hole-of-Lyne Adam. Sired by Blackburn Adam, he had also been a class winner earlier in the day and went on to be Male Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion. He was purchased in a half share between J & M Walker, Raeburnfoot, Eskdalemuir and JM Davidson, East Deloraine, Selkirk.
