Whitebred Shorthorn Autumn Sale 2019
There was a good show of Whitebred Shorthorn cattle for sale at the Autumn sale on 8th November 2019, which also saw the dispersal sale of the Stonehouse herd.
Mr P Robinson of Ottercops, Northumberland expertly judged the pre sale show. First in the bull class and overall champion went to Ballyvaddy Odinof from T&K Madden, Ballyvaddy, Glencloy, Northern Ireland. The bull went on to make 1500gns and went back to Northern Ireland to Messrs Douglas, Castlederg, Co Tyrone. The two year old bull, is by Longley Talisman and out of Hole of Lyne Weigela 2nd, which is sired by Hole of Lyne Tommy 2nd.
2nd place went to Parton Capture, bred by Messrs Hewson, by Northwood William out of Parton Suzanna 86.
3rd place went to Stoneskar Apollo by Stoneskar Rocky, out of Ben Ledi Duchess 2nd which sold for 900gns.
Homebred Stonehouse Hannah 2nd was not to be outdone and was reserve champion, she proceeded to sell for 1700gns, by Stonehouse White O’morn, out of Spoutbank Hannah, described as being the best heifer that SJ&M Richardson & son have bred.
Amongst the sale there was also a good selection of cows with calves at foot, High Creoch Twinkle with her heifer calf at foot brought out by SJ&M Richardson and son made 2100gns.
Sales going to established breeders as well as new purchasers.
